Lauren Jow in Vegas

25,000 gay girls recently descended on Las Vegas for a weekend of fun and frolics – here, journalist Lauren Jow proves what happens in Vegas certainly doesn’t stay in Vegas…

The decision to go to Dinah Vegas 2015 with my girlfriend days after she turned 30 was, like all the best Vegas decisions, a last-minute one. We weren’t planning on going, but a few days before the hedonism began I decided we should make a dash for it – scoring major girlfriend points in the process.

Though Dinah technically starts Thursday night, Friday is the earliest we can arrive. Amanda and I made the four-plus-hour drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas through miles of tedious desert; the landscape’s way of building anticipation for the sensory onslaught that is Sin City.

The shimmering casinos and hotels rise alluringly as we finally approach, and then we hit a wall of Vegas traffic. I gratefully remember aloud that parking is free at all the casinos, everything is walking distance – and thank god we’re lesbians so nobody expects us to wear heels.
