Boston Pride Parade
New England’s largest city, Boston, is also one of the country’s most gay-friendly metroplises, it being the capital of the first state to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples back in 1996.

Boston is proud of its almost 400-year history, but it is also a cutting-edge city. Look for clubs hosting the latest indie bands, restaurants with the trendiest fusion cuisine, and plenty of boutique hotels.

OK, when do I stay and play in the village?

The largest gay pride event in New England, and one of the most popular on the Eastern Seaboard, Boston Gay Pride takes place each year in mid-June. Earlier in April and May, the LGBT Film Festival is a big draw for locals and visitors alike.

The greater Boston area has the largest lesbian community nationwide and is one place where gay ladies outnumber men. In the 19th century, people used the term “Boston Marriages” to describe the middle-to-upper-class educated ladies who lived together after graduating from university. Nowadays, ladies who wanna marry ladies can just do so and they can use the term “marriage.”

FYI, Boston is the gateway for one of the country’s top gay vacation destinations, Provincetown. There’s a Women’s Week, Bear Week, and plenty of other events year-round.
