Scenic Suites Queenstown

Queenstown is a resort town in Otago in the south-west corner of the South Island. It is built around an inlet called Queenstown Bay on Lake Wakatipu, a long thin Z-shaped lake formed by glacial processes, and has spectacular views of nearby mountains. World-renowned for its adventure, Queenstown is home to a huge choice of adrenaline based activities. There’s also plenty on offer if you enjoy the great outdoors, superb food and wine, and a more relaxed pace. Visitors have lots to choose from on land, lake or in the air, and if you love golf, biking, walking, sailing and fishing you will love Queenstown. For many years, people have been drawn to the beautiful lake and alpine areas around the town, starting with early Maori who came in search of Pounamu (greenstone). European settlers followed, with sights set on fertile grazing land. They discovered a whole lot more when shining gold lit up the region’s waterways. A gold rush sprang up overnight in the 1860s, marking the start of an international fascination with the Queenstown region.
