In Queenstown, one of New Zealand's most visited towns, you can enjoy year-round attractions and adrenalin-packed adventure activities. This beautiful resort town sits on the edge of Lake Wakatipu, at the foot of the Southern Alps and attracts thrill-seekers, romantics, families, young travellers, wine-lovers, and anyone looking for an unforgettable getaway. So named because it grew on a site ‘fit for Queen Victoria’, the town sits regally on the shore of Lake Wakatipu among dramatic ranges.

The lake and mountain landscape make it suited to all kinds of adventures. In the winter it’s the perfect base for skiing and snow sports and all year there’s bungy jumping---including the sixty metre freefall of the Shotover Canyon Swing---jet boating, horse trekking and river rafting. In order to recover from the adventure, Queenstown offers all the indulgences including spa treatments, boutique shopping and excellent dining pleasures.

Head out of Queenstown and the dramatic  Central Otago landscape unfolds around you. If you’re a Lord of the Rings fan you’ll recognize many of the locations of Middle-earth here. Half an hour from Queenstown, Arrowtown’s gold-mining history is alive and in everyday use. Visit the Lakes District Museum, one of New Zealand’s best small museums. At the northern tip of Lake Wakatipu, you can take a 4WD track out of Glenorchy and you’re at the start of some of New Zealand’s great hiking trails.
