Village Inn

Internationally renowned as the ‘Walking Capital of the World’, Te Anau is the gateway to most of the southern walking tracks, including the world famous Milford Track. But there are also other ways to experience the dramatic Fiordland scenery. Lake Te Anau is the hub of the Fiordland National Park, a world heritage region of scenic wonders, serenity, and mystery. From Te Anau you can explore the surrounding majestic views from every angle—from float planes, helicopters, and jet boats. Or get even closer to nature and experience some of the best fly fishing and finest walking tracks in the world. Te Anau is the gateway to an unforgettable experience whichever way you choose to explore.

Cosy Lounge

Nearby Mitre Peak, Milford Sound is the most famous and accessible of the grand glacier-carved fiords scattered along New Zealand’s south-western coast. The road to Milford is one of the world’s finest alpine drives. From Te Anau, the road winds down the Eglinton and Hollyford valleys, then through the Homer Tunnel to be met by Mitre Peak towering from the glassy waters of Milford Sound. Mountain peaks with sculptural, hanging valleys send waterfalls cascading over sheer granite cliffs to the sea below. Boat trips on the Sound are a must and provide close-up views of awe-inspiring scenery. These cruises are often accompanied by playful dolphins and seals basking on rocks are a common sight.
